Melodious Monday!

Block B: Today in class we completed responses to chapter 1 as a group and started to read chapter 2. For homework tonight, please read and complete your text-codes for chapter 2 as there will be an assignment that you will be working on in class and you will not be able to do the assignment if you don't do the reading!

Block C: Time to put all of your hard work together. Tomorrow we are going to collect your responses for chapters 1-15. Please make sure that you have completed all components and hand them in as a package. We will be moving on to chapter 16 tomorrow!

Block C: If you finished off the first 3 pages for the chapters 13, 14, and 15 package, please check through your past worksheets to make sure they are all finished as we are going to start marking them next week!

Merrily Monday!

Block B: In class today we talked about making connections - text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world. We also made a big list of text-codes that could apply to reading fiction. As practice, you are to read the short story "The Decision" for homework tonight and text-code along side of it. I'm only asking that you complete the text-codes, you do not have to go back and summarize your thinking for each one.

Block C: Great work on the Chapter 11 work! You were able to show many aspects of your interpretation of character. We'll focus on main idea tomorrow.

Thoughts on Thursday!

Block B: Great work debriefing your text-codes today during our pairs discussion. I handed out a 3 part assignment today where you will now demonstrate your ability to use 3 of the skills and strategies that we have been working on in class. THIEVES, Text-coding, and Linear Notes. Use the pink sheet to help guide you through the process. If you would like more clarity on the good copy which is due on Monday - here is the slide from class today.
Block C: We are now up to the end of chapter 8 - see you tomorrow!

Washed in Sunshine Wednesday!

Block B: Great job on the text-coding lesson today! I love that the article created such controversy!!! Can't wait to debrief it tomorrow. Homework tonight is to finish your text codes (and explanations of your thinking for each one) then choose the 3 text codes (and summaries) that you think helped you understand the text - we'll do the partner work tomorrow.

Block C: We'll continue our novel study in class tomorrow! No homework tonight :)

Make It Rain Monday!

Block B: I am so proud of your hard work today on our Making Meaning Challenge! An ode can be a tricky poem to write - and an ode that you can't use the name of the subject?! Even tougher. I will give you about 10 minutes at the beginning of class tomorrow to finish off your poems and then have you present them to the class. No homework tonight!

Block C: If you are missing assignments - make sure you are making appointments to come and get them done - report cards are coming up next week!
