Penultimate Thursday:

Block A: You will be writing your synthesis essay tomorrow in-class. You may come in at lunch if you would like to get a head start. There will be a homeroom at the end of class to hand out timetables for next semester - but you can pick yours up in the office Monday morning. For the essay - bring in your point form outline, sources and copy of Macbeth.

Block C: Hope you enjoyed the pizza party today! Thanks student council!!! We'll write a synthesis essay tomorrow in class.

Block D: Tomorrow is the big day for your final writing assignment of the semester. Today you chose the topic that you would like to write on, and started to prepare your point form outline. For tomorrow's class you may bring in your point form outline, copy of Romeo and Juliet, and your handout on incorporating quotations. Good luck!

Take-on Tuesday!

Block A: Today we worked through a lesson on synthesis and did a practice with the poem "Warren Pryor" and the short story "A&P" Tonight for homework: Read and annotate the poem, write what the common theme is. Complete a venn diagram of the similarities and differences. Create an outline of an essay complete with a thesis statement. All due tomorrow.

Block C: Provincial practice continues - we'll mark then start composition tomorrow.

Block D: Bravo actors! Our rendition of Romeo and Juliet is now complete - work on literary analysis starts tomorrow.

Magnificent Monday!

Block A: Some really wonderful dramatics today!!! Witches, and CEOs and ninja assassins?! Amazing! Look over the song and poem you chose and evaluate them for their qualities - will you have enough materials thematically speaking to create an essay? Tomorrow will tell.

Block C: Stand-alone practice for today is done - we'll start synthesis tomorrow.

Block D: Get ready to wow me!!! Tomorrow afternoon our show will start. Be ready and in costume when the bell goes!

Fabulous Friday

Block A: Today was your LAST work block for your final dramatic performance for Macbeth. The show starts on Monday - I can't wait to see what you have come up with!!!

Block C: Congratulations to all of my wonderfully talented students on your excellent performances in our Tempest reimaginings - I thoroughly enjoyed them all. Take the weekend to catch up on your other subjects - and get ready for some super fun provincial exam practice starting on Monday.

Block D: Keep up the good work on your collaborative act assignments - Show time is Tuesday - dress rehearsal on Monday!

I'm leaving early today - so I thought I would update a little early so that there is no confusion about any work that needs to be done for tomorrow.

Block A: Work continues on your final dramatic performance - Monday is show time - so be an active and engaged group member and make sure you are contributing to your group!

Block C: Stoked about presentations so far!!! Can't wait to finish up your awesome work tomorrow.

Block D: You will have another work block tomorrow to prepare for your collaborative act interpretation assignment. Be focused and on task - the show will go on Tuesday!

Well Worth it Wednesday:

Block A: Work continues on your dramatic performances! The show starts on Monday - be ready - no excuses - this is it - go for it!!!!

Block C: Phew! Your last official in-class essay is done!!! Can't WAIT to see your masterful reimaginings of The Tempest tomorrow!!!

Block D: Today we wrote the Act 5 quiz, and I gave you some time to work on your Act 5 character response. The Romeo and Juliet package is due tomorrow - so please make sure to hand in all 5 responses, your vocabulary list and the pink criteria stapled to the back. I also handed out the Collaborative Act Interpretation Assignment. Groups were formed and work has begun. I expect nothing but awesome on this project! Work continues in class tomorrow. The show hits the stage on Tuesday Jan 22nd.

Tuesday's Take-Aways:

Block A: Today we watched the rest of the Macbeth movie, and I handed out the assignment sheet for the final dramatic performance project. Don't forget that performances start on Monday - so be ready!!!

Block C: In-class essay tomorrow :) Come prepared with your outline, transitions sheet, and play. Remember this is literary analysis - make sure you are analyzing something!!!

Block D: We are done! The play is finished! Wonderful work on the reading today - thank you to all who volunteered. Please complete your Act 5 study guide in preparation for the quiz tomorrow. The Romeo and Juliet package - 5 character responses and your 20 vocabulary words are due Thursday.

Almost there Monday:

Block A: Your Macbeth package is due tomorrow. Make sure that you have all parts accounted for - also hand in your completed package with the criteria sheet attached to the back. We shall start the Dramatic Performance tomorrow.

Block C: This is it - your last chance to show me all you have learned about literary analysis this semester! Work block tomorrow continues for your outline - point form - only topic sentences and thesis may be full sentences.

Block D: You should have completed your Act 4 character response today in class, in addition to the study guide questions for scene 1 and 2 of Act 5. We will finish the rest tomorrow.

Fabulous Friday!

Block A: Today we discussed who is ultimately responsible for the tragedy - should we take responsibility for our own actions - or can we blame others? The Macbeth package: Character Responses, Literary Terms and Spine poem are due on Tuesday. Homework tonight is to find a poem (not written by you) that connects in some way to the same topic that you chose for the song you handed in. This is due on Monday - so please make sure to print it off or copy it out and bring it to class with you.

Block C: Can't WAIT to see your dramatic performances on Thursday!!! The joys of literary analysis start on Monday!

Block D: Some GREAT reading today of R&J act 4. This weekend - please complete the study guide for act 4 in preparation for the quiz. I will give you time on Monday to work on your character response.

Wonderful Wednesday!

Block A: Time was given in class today to work on your Act 4 character response. Homework tonight is to find a song that is in some way related to Macbeth. Resisting temptation, falling from grace, ambition, greed etc. Your song may have a phrase or two with some more colourful language - but the content may not be racist, homophobic, misogynistic, or derogatory in nature.

Block C: Work continues on your Tempest Presentations due on Thursday Jan 17th!

Block D: I am going to do a homework check on your Act 3 character response tomorrow.

Block A: Today we finished reading Act 4 - there are some bad things happening in Scotland right now! There are some questions on the act to complete for homework. In addition please start on your act 4 character response. There will also be quiz tomorrow.

Block C: Tomorrow is the due date for the Tempest Package. Please make sure you hand in all components along with the blue criteria sheet at the back.

Block D: We read Act 3 of R&J, and you were given the rest of the block to work on your act 3 study guide. There will be a quiz tomorrow. If you get the chance then please start your act 3 character response.

Welcome Back Monday!

Block A: Today we reviewed Act 3 of Macbeth by doing a headlines activity. Then we started to read Act 4 - but did not finish grrrr. We'll cover the rest tomorrow!

Block C: And so the final push to the end begins! Due dates: Wed. Jan 9th - Tempest Package Due. Wed. Jan 16 in-class essay. Thurs. Jan 17 Presentations begin!!!

Block D: Today we read act 3 scene 1. For homework tonight you should complete the study guide for scene 1, and if you have not finished acts 1 and 2 character responses - you should get on that pretty quick here!
