What about Wednesday?!

Block A: Phew! Your literary analysis essays are DONE! Congratulations. Please hand in your Verbal/Visual Essays tomorrow. On the back, you need to include the original passage with MLA citation, a clear version of your poem, the topic you've chosen and your name, date and block. Please remove and recycle all of your sticky notes and hand in your novel tomorrow.

Block B: Tonight for homework you need to complete the introduction of your essay on your outline. This means, the hook, background information, and thesis statement. Yes, the hook and thesis are the most difficult sentences to write - but you can do it! We'll examine body paragraphs tomorrow.

Block D: If you did not finish ELO 4 in class - the plot diagram and mini CSI for "Gentleman of Rio En Medio" please do so for homework tonight.

Talking about Tuesday!

Block A: Day one of essay writing is over - you will have a second day tomorrow. I am usually here around 8:00 in the morning if you want to get an early start!

Block B: If you did not have your 3 articles in class today - please print them off and bring them to class tomorrow.

Block D: Finish your adjective and adverb practice in addition to the response questions for "Gentleman of Rio En Medio." We'll discuss tomorrow!

Monday Musings:

Block A: When you get to class tomorrow - there will be paper on your desk. You may get started writing your essay as soon as you get here!

Block B: Homework tonight is to find and print off your 3 reputable and reliable sources for your approved essay proposal. I MUST see hard copies of your sources in class - a list of websites is NOT acceptable, nor is "I've got them, but they're on my phone." Hard copies only!!!

Block D: There will be an adjective and adverb quiz on Thursday. Make sure you study your notes. In addition, if you didn't finish confirming or correcting your predictions for "Gentleman of Rio En Medio" please do so tonight!

First Rate Friday!

Block A: Review the different techniques and expectations of literary analysis essay writing. I will give you the topics on Monday. You should be working on the Verbal Visual Essay - due on Thursday.

Block B: Homework this weekend is to brainstorm and create a proposal for your essay topic. You may or may not actually end up writing on this topic - but this will help you develop the ability focus your essay. The proposal should include a brief description of the topic, who your intended audience is and what potential reputable, reliable sources you might be able to find. Keep track of your sources as you will need to create a full works cited for this essay.

Block D: The practice plot diagram for "The Landlady" and the C.S.I. are both due on Monday :)

Thoughtfully Thursday:

Block A: You will be handing in 3-4 journal entries tomorrow. Make sure you've read and understood the criteria for this assignment!

Block B: There is no homework tonight - other than bringing your silent reading book to class tomorrow. You need to make the choice for your book talk book by Monday Oct. 26th. It will be first come first served, so if there is a book that you are SURE you want to present on make sure you tell me soon!

Block D: Practice quiz on verbs tomorrow - make sure you study! If you didn't finish the foreshadowing and questions for "The Landlady" please do so tonight - we'll discuss after the quiz!

Wonderful Wednesday!

Block A: Just one more block to work on your journals which are due on Friday and the Verbal Visual Essay if you are done your journals!

Block B: Two more presentations tomorrow and we're on to our next unit!

Block D: If you finished your review on verbs in class today - you are homework free tonight! We will be having a practice quiz on Friday for Verbs.

Tackle Your Tuesday!

Block A: There will be extra time tomorrow for groups to finish their discussions about the end of the novel. The next set of 3-4 journal entries is due on Friday. You will have time tomorrow and Thursday to work on them. If you have finished your journals - then I recommend working on your Verbal/Visual Essay. The due date has been moved to Thursday Oct. 22 - as there is a Pro-D day on the 23rd.

Block B: We will continue with the rest of the group presentations tomorrow.

Block D: If you did not finish the worksheet on subject/verb agreement, please do so for homework tonight. In addition you need to finish the plot line for "For the Birds" the Pixar short we watched in class. Be ready to discuss tomorrow!
