Mega-Monday!

Block B: Ms. Brown and I are SO excited for tomorrow! We can't wait to hear your rap presentations!!! Be proud of all your hard work - we certainly are!

Block C: There is the second to last group meeting tomorrow - make sure your reading and sticky notes are complete. The next set of journals is due next Tuesday.

Block D: Your second group meeting is tomorrow - make sure your reading and sticky notes are complete so that you can participate in the discussion. Your first set of double-entry journals is due on Thursday.

Fun-times Friday!

Block B: Great work on the Jay-Z and Eminem lyric examinations - the questions were completed in class as your ticket out the door. The rest of the class was to work on your rap lyrics - presentations are on Tuesday!

Block C: Nice work on the meeting today. I know that not all of you were able to finish - not to worry - we will have time on Monday to finish up.

Block D: Hope your first meeting went well today! A few more groups need extra time on Monday to finish the questions. Make sure you're keeping up to date with your reading and sticky notes!

Think About it Thursday:

Block B: If you didn't finish your work the B.I.G. lyrics from yesterday - please have those done for tomorrow. Also you should be working on your own rap lyrics - remember rhyme and rhythm! Presentations are Tuesday!

Block C: Thanks for handing in your journals today. You need to read and complete your sticky notes in preparation for the group meeting tomorrow.

Block D: I explained the double-entry journal assignment that you are expected to complete 4 times for this unit. I will collect 2 entries next week. I'm looking for evidence of your engagement with the novel - the must be in good copy - pen or typed, but single-spaced is fine. Please make sure that your reading and sticky notes are done for tomorrow - no notes - no group!

Wandering Wednesday:

Block B: Today we looked at the profile of BIG and did an examination of his lyrics. Please complete the questions on the back of the lyrics sheet for homework. As well - you need to complete the brainstorm for the write your own rap assignment.

Block C: I  know that you didn't all get a chance to finish your group work today - not too worry - there will be time tomorrow to finish up. I will be collecting 2 journal entries tomorrow - make sure they are self-edited and in pen or typed!

Block D: You had the chance to get started on your novel study today. The first group meeting will be on Friday - make sure your reading and sticky notes are complete. Tomorrow I will introduce the double-entry journal format - then you will have the rest of the class to read and prepare your sticky notes for Friday's meeting.

Tasks on a Tuesday!

Block B: If you didn't finish the blue sheet of examples of poetic devices - please complete it for homework!

Block C: Make sure you have your reading and sticky notes complete for the meeting tomorrow! The first set of journals is due on Thursday. Please complete 2 questions - they can be single-spaced but make sure they are in pen!

Block D: Thank you for all of your hard work in your presentations!  Today in class you made your novel study choices - and I will reveal your groups tomorrow. No homework tonight!

Most of all Monday!

Block B: Your compare and contrast compositions are now overdue! Get those in ASAP!!! We will continue our Top 10 silent reading and rap as poetry unit tomorrow!

Block C: There will be a work block in class tomorrow for those students not going on a field trip to eat tacos... We will silent read and work on our journal responses.

Block D: Great work groups who presented today! We will finish up presentations tomorrow and then it is on to the next unit!

Fortunately Friday!

Block B: Thank you for handing in the good copies of your paragraphs and/or essays today. If you did not finish your double-spaced good copy - please hand it in on Monday!

Block C: A great start to your novel study groups today! If your group needs some extra time to complete the discussion organizer that's fine - you can have time on Monday. This is a self-directed unit. If you know that you need more time to complete the reading and journals - get a head start this weekend. There will be two reading and work blocks to start the week.

Block D: Phew! Synthesis essays are done! We will present our visual presentations on Monday!
