Thoughts on Thursday:

Have a happy and relaxing long weekend!

Block A: Great job on the writing assessment today! We went through the expectations of writing at the English 9 level - and you gave yourself some feedback about what you would like to focus on for this semester. There is no homework this weekend except to find a silent reading book for Tuesday.

Block B: Awesome work on the sentences today! Also the cup challenge seemed to have mixed results - although there were some who believe we need a second round with this one... Enjoy the weekend - no homework for you!

Block D: It seemed like you were all basically on target for the expectations of English 11 writing. You set some pretty realistic goals on what you would like to improve on throughout the semester. With some hard work - I'm sure you can do it! There is no homework this weekend - other than to find a silent reading book for Tuesday!

First Day Friday?!

I know it feels strange - but here we are on a Friday - and it is the first day of Semester 2!!!

Block A: Great first class today! I know we ran out of time to get our letters written - but I will give you some time on Monday to finish up. If you could please get your yellow parent/guardian letter signed and returned that would be great!

Block B: I have a good feeling about this group! We will finish up our personal profile on Monday. Please have your green parent/guardian letter signed and returned as soon as possible.

Block D: Nice work today class! We got started on your letters to me this afternoon. If you did not finish up here are the instructions from the overhead:

Part A:  Explain to me a little bit about you. What kinds of things do you like doing outside of school? Do you belong to clubs or sports teams? Anything that will help to give me a better picture of who you are.

Part B: What do you expect to get out of my class? What makes a good teacher? What expectations do you have of me as your teacher?

Part C: Tell me about the kind of student you are. Do you hate to be called on in front of class? Do you sometimes need extra help? Do you need help keeping your work organized? Extra reminders about homework and due dates?

Part D: Think seriously about who would be a good person for you to sit near in order to benefit your learning. I'll take your reasons into consideration when I make my seating plan tonight. You must provide a good reason - s/he's my bff is not a good reason! You may also tell me who you think you might need some space from - with a good reason, for example: I am easily distracted by......... and I want to do better academically this semester. I'm not making any promises - but I'll do the best I can.

In your letter feel free to include anything else you think might be helpful for me to know about you.

In addition to your letter please sign and return the blue parent/guardian letter.

We're going to have a great semester together - and I can't wait to get started!!!

Wallowing Wednesday!

Block B: Poetry Stations are done! There will be some time tomorrow to share more poetry if you feel so inclined. There is no homework tonig...
