Terrific Tuesday!

Blocks A, B and D:  Your Bio Poem is due on Friday. You may have some limited amount of class time to work on it... but no guarantees! Also silent reading starts tomorrow - so please come to class with your book!

Also if you have not returned your coloured sheet - then please have it by Friday.

Block C:  Your green sheet is due Friday, and if you did not complete the goal setting assignment than it is due tomorrow. Also, please bring a silent reading book to class as well.

LAST DAY OF THE SEMESTER!!!

As this is the last class of the semester there is obviously NO homework!

Best of luck to my English 12s on the Provincial Exam next Thursday - you will all be brilliant I'm sure!!!

It has been an absolute joy and pleasure to teach all of you this semester. Thank you for bringing your wonderful selves to class and sharing in this journey with me.

Last Thursday of 1st semester!

Block A:  Hats off to all performers day! Synthesis begins tomorrow afternoon. Bring in your sources and  your point form outline.

Block C:  We will take a closer look at the composition component of the exam tomorrow.

Block D:  Wonderful work today actors! Literary analysis begins tomorrow morning. So bring your play, and point form green sheet to class and be ready to write!

Last Monday of 1st Semester!

Block A:  Keep working on your presentations, and synthesis sources. You should be at the point where you have summarized your sources and are now attempting to make connections with Macbeth.

Block C:  Provincial prep continues tomorrow: Synthesis.

Block D:  Keep working on your performances! We'll have a sign up sheet tomorrow for time-slots. Literary Analysis writing continues tomorrow.

Happy Friday!!!

Block A:  Presentations start on Wednesday. Homework for the weekend is to find your Synthesis essay sources. Make sure you are following the expectations on the blue handout. You need an MLA works cited list for your sources.

Block C:  Please write a journal entry reflection on the presentation process. Comment on how the process went, how the work was distributed, and whether or not you believe that the mark should be the same for all members.  Plus, please comment on what you would do differently if you had the chance to do this assignment again.

Block D:  Presentations start Wednesday - you will be getting some time on Monday to work with your group, but not the whole block!

Wonderful Wednesday!

Block A:  Today we looked at the qualities of a tragic hero and discussed how Macbeth meets the traditional definition. We also looked at some examples of how to pull together different sources for a synthesis essay.  Your homework right now is to complete the theme quotation list which is due on Friday, find your sources for your synthesis essay, and work with your group on your final performance.

Block C:  Today we started provincial exam review by examining the different components and discussing strategies for tackling the exam.  Presentations start tomorrow - so make sure you come prepared!!

Block D: Today we wrote the quiz for Act 5 of R&J, and then you had the rest of the class to work on either your theme quotations or your final performance. You will have a work block again tomorrow so make sure you come prepared!

Terrific Tuesday!

Block A:  Today we finished watching the rest of the movie Macbeth. And once again we got to see a head on a stick.... ew.  Anyways, in addition, your theme quotations and spine poem are due on Friday. And you should be thinking about gathering your sources for your synthesis as well!!!

Block C:  Tomorrow we start Provincial Exam review - so come prepared with questions and your terminology.

Block D:  Congratulations we finished Romeo and Juliet today! Wonderful reading everyone - so proud of the risk takers who read for the first time today! For homework you will need to complete the Act 5 study guide in preparation for the quiz tomorrow. Keep working on your theme quotations and your vocabulary list.

Monday Musings:

Block A:  Today we finished Macbeth!!! Well done all!!! I handed out the final performance project for the unit. Presentations will be on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

Block C:  Congratulations - you have now written your LAST in-class essay for English 12. Work block tomorrow for your presentations.

Block D:  I handed out the final performance project. Some groups are still working on figuring out their scenes - which is fine - but you should sort it out by tomorrow.

Fabulous Friday!

Block A:  Today we finished reading Act 4 of Macbeth, for homework this weekend, finish up the questions for scene 3, and bring in a song or poem that is about resisting temptation, falling from grace, or another theme somehow related to Macbeth, and bring it to class on Monday. You should also be working on your theme quotations and spine poem - which will be due next week.

Block C:  In-class essay on The Tempest Monday - point form outline and play ONLY!!!

Block D:  Today we finished reading Act 4 of Romeo and Juliet. For homework this weekend, please finish the Act 4 study guide and work on your theme quotations and vocabulary.

Thoughts for a Sunny Thursday!

Block A:  For homework tonight is to finish up the discussion questions for Act 4 scenes 1&2 of Macbeth, we will finish reading the rest of the act tomorrow and discuss your responses to the questions.

Block C:  Continue working on your Tempest package.  You will need to hand in the criteria sheet - your 5 character responses, your 5 theme quotations, and your spine poem - in order please!!

Block D:  No official homework - but I would recommend working on your theme quotations and vocabulary list!!!

Back to Work Tuesday!

Welcome back everyone!!! I don't know where the time went - but the two weeks flew by!

Here is the homework for tomorrow:

Block A:  Finish your Act 3 headlines - I will be collecting these at the beginning of class tomorrow. Also the discussion questions from Act 3 that were on the powerpoint are due as we will be discussing them first thing.

Block C:  Today I posted the timeline for the rest of the semester - Friday Jan 6 - The Tempest package is due. Monday Jan 9 - In-class essay. Thurs Jan 12 and Fri Jan 13 - Presentations. There will be some more time tomorrow to work on your package and your presentation.

Block D:  Today we started reading Act 3 of Romeo and Juliet - we read up to the end of scene 5.  Them we started working on the study guide for Act 3 - tomorrow I will be doing a homework check on the vocab and the questions for scene 1.
